The Canadian Gas Research Institute (CGRI) is an independent not-for-profit research and development organization with a mandate to develop leading edge technology for the natural gas industry. Since incorporation in 1974, CGRI has grown steadily and is now a multi-faceted organization, with modern laboratory facilities and a highly skilled team of scientists and engineers who bring innovation into traditional areas of gas utilization.
During its 20 year history, CGRI has been responsible for a significant number of patented and non-patented technological and product innovations. CGRI is active in the fields of domestic gas utilization, commercial and industrial gas technology, gas distribution systems, and fuel delivery systems for natural gas vehicles. Laboratory capabilities include a comprehensive testing and evaluation service for appliances prior to certification, technical reviews, a troubleshooting service, Codes and Standards development and materials and corrosion evaluations. CGRI has access to Computational Fluid Dynamics and Finite Element analysis computer modelling tools.
